Our weekly worship service

Sundays @ 10:30 AM

8239 Remmet Ave. Canoga Park, CA

Our Church Gathering is a time when the entire family comes together to collectively worship, proclaim, and demonstrate Jesus Christ.  We meet every Sunday morning at the Neighborhood Center at 8239 Remmet Avenue. People begin to arrive at 10:30 for coffee and snacks, after which we have a time of worship which includes songs, prayer, meals, communion, and teaching centered on God's Word. During this time child care is provided for all children, although school-aged children have the opportunity to participate in the time of worship together with the adults. Simultaneous Interpretation is also provided from English to Spanish and vice-versa throughout the morning. Dress on Sunday morning varies. We tend to be more casual, but it's up to you!  Parking is available in front of our building, on Remmet, or in the Multicultural Learning Center Middle School Campus immediately south of our building at 8211 Remmet Avenue .

simultaneous interpretation

The vision for our community and the context of our neighborhood is multi-lingual. We seek for our gatherings to reflect that reality. Currently we offer live English and Spanish simultaneous interpretation depending on the source language spoken during our gatherings.

Our decision to offer live, simultaneous interpreting is a very deliberate one. We feel like it is the way that we can most fully demonstrate unity, equality, and concern for the entire body. This is because live simultaneous interpreting allows for both language groups to hear everything that is being said at the same time in their language and does not require that one group do something special (such as put on headphones) to be able to hear the message. We understand it may be distracting at first, but are compelled by Paul’s teaching below about the body.

1 Corinthians 12:21-26:

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Children's ministry

Care and curriculum guided Biblical instruction is provided for all children during the service from infant through 5th grade.  All instructors participate in regular training and have completed background checks.

Infants and toddlers can be checked-in to their classrooms up to 15 minutes prior to the start of the service.  All school-aged children are encouraged to participate in worship with the adults and are dismissed to their classrooms during a break in the service. Parents/guardians are responsible for personally checking-in/out your children to ensure their safety.

worship

As we seek to be a multi-lingual community and reflect our multi-lingual neighborhood, we choose to worship and sing songs in both English and Spanish languages during our service. English songs always have Spanish translation for understanding and Spanish songs always have English translation for understanding. But we do encourage everyone to sing TOGETHER in the primary language that is presented/led for each song.

communion / lord's supper

Every 3rd Sunday of the Month, we take Communion as a part of the service to remember what Christ has done for us, is doing for us, and will do for us. As a part of the service we celebrate and enjoy the fellowship we have with Jesus and each other by sharing a church-wide pot-luck meal.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share with others. Everyone's participation is desired, but if finances prevent you from participating, please CONTACT US and the church can provide assistance as needed.

giving / offering

An offering or a public collection is not a formal part of our regular gatherings. However, we do have an offering box that is available before and after our weekly worship service for those in our church family or others who desire to participate in this opportunity. Since our mission to fully proclaim by word and deed the supremacy and worth of Jesus Christ by being and making His disciples, we ensure that the primary utilization of all our resources is devoted to loving and serving our neighbors through Gospel-Centered ministries of word and deed.  We post a bi-annual budget update on our Welcome Board.  If you have further questions regarding our stewardship please feel free to CONTACT US for more information.
